Volunteer Session in the Park – Thursday 1st June 2017, 10 am at the GOALs entrance

Posted by Peter Batty. Date: May 30, 2017.

We’re again meeting for our weekly volunteering session on Thursday 1st June, 10 am, at GOALS entrance to the Park (off Pollokshaws Rd).  We’ll focus on tidying up round the big Pond area, children’s play area and Rose Garden.

We plan to continue the Thursday sessions over the summer (as long as volunteers turn up!), and if you’ve signed up to our Facebook page, you’ll see regular postings on the volunteering sessions, monthly meetings etc.

If you are new to the volunteer sessions, here are a few things you need to know:

  • The sessions are not usually physically demanding, but they can involve walking a reasonable distance around the park, but in general you can do as much or as little as you wish.
  • Wear clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty. We will provide gloves and a high-visibility vest, but you should wear clothes and footwear suitable for the outdoors.
  • A representative from the Council parks team will give you a short induction for your first session, giving you information about health and safety.
  • We usually work for somewhere between 90 minutes and 2 hours, depending on the activity. You are free to stay as long as you want.

If you have any specific questions before you come along, please leave a comment here or on the Facebook page.
