Planting and weeding at the wildlife pond
What a great turnout. Thanks to everybody who came along to the pond on the 21st May.
We planted a lovely selection of informal/’cottagey’ perennials that should do well at this site, including:
- lady’s mantle
- bugle
- lemon balm
- creeping Jenny
- hardy geraniums
- ferns
At next month’s session, Sunday June 18th we hope to plant more of the same plus a few extras such as periwinkle, geum and aquilegia.
There are other plants on our wish list like pulmonaria, comfrey, red campion and forget-me-not. If anyone has any ‘spares’ that they’d be happy to donate to the pond bed, Friends would be very grateful.
During this warm dry spell a couple of us have been out with the watering cans to help along our new plants, at the pond and in the Rose Garden.
